Many times we have to change our file names
according to our need. It is very easy if we have to rename 4 to 5 files, but
the question is; if we have more than 10 files, more than 100 files or more
than 1000 files then how can we rename thousands of files. It will take a long
time to rename all of them one by one.
When we transfer our pictures from smart phone
or camera to our computer, they have their own names like DCM100010 etc. And we
always change the name of those pictures according to situation. For example if
we have 500 pictures of our last trip to a lake. We will rename these files
like Lake-Aug15-01, Lake-Aug15-02, Lake-Aug15-03, etc and then we have more
than 300 files which belongs to our family we rename those files like
family-01, family-02, family-03, etc.
Similarly the web designers and computer
programmers work with various image files especially when they are building a
website. It is very difficult for human being to remember file names. And it
will be very easy if all files are named easily and in a proper sequence. They
can use loops to manipulate files. So the question is again that how we can
rename thousands of files in one go.
So users it is also very easy to rename
thousands of files in one second. Now I will guide you step by step. Follow
these easy steps and you can definitely rename multiple file easily.
Step 1: Open the folder which contains your
files.
Make sure that this folder contains only that
files which you want to rename. And all files should be of similar nature, like
if you are renaming an image file, then all files should be of image type.
There are 18 items in this folder as you can
see at the bottom of the image.
Step 2: Select Files.
Step 2: Select Files.
Second step is to select all file, you can
select files with the help of mouse by drag & drop method. But if there are
lots of files then just press Ctrl+A to select all files. Ctrl+A
is a shortcut key for selecting all files or text.
Step 3: Right click on any file and then left click on Rename.
Now right click on any file to open the menu
bar, and then click on rename.
Step 4: Change name and press enter.
This is the last step, Now just change the name
whatever you want to change and then press enter.
Now you will see that all files will be renamed
sequentially.
These are just 4 steps to rename multiple file,
which is equivalent to one step when you perform these. With similar tip, you
can rename thousands of files just in one second.
Note: You can also rename files of various types for
example if a folder contains mix type of file, MS Word files, MS Excel files,
image files, Corel files, etc then you can rename all of them also. Names will
be changed but extensions will remain same.
